Plant Propagation Project

I introduced my students (yes I’m back long-term substitute teaching, working on alternative license) to plant propagation and we’re doing a little project. The kids are attempting to propagate pothos, hibiscus, and mint by stem cutting (then placing in water) and also fern by both stem cutting and root division. They were kinda ‘meh’ about it at first but I saved the root division for last and they really enjoyed tearing apart that huge fern. We ended up breaking it into six smaller ferns we then potted up. Then of course not much happened the first few days but then some of the hibiscus buds in water popped! And the mint started to root. We’re doing this through the end of October, so we shall see what we see!
